PUDTOL, Apayao – More Pudtol residents even in far flung areas can now get access to internet as the town on Thursday received thirteen (13) packages of Starlink Low Earth Orbit Satellite from the DICT’s Free WiFi for all program – one of the forefront initiatives of the Department.
These units have been installed in the town hall, in 5 selected schools, 5 barangay halls, 1 hospital, and 1 Police station across the town to bridge gaps of internet connectivity among residents, providing them access to a wider range of information and services, as well as to enable government workers deliver more efficient services.
The List of free WiFi zones include Amma Jadsac District Hospital, Aurora Elementary School, Cacalaggan Barangay Hall, Lt. Balag Barangay Hall, Lydia Barangay Hall, Malibang Elementary School, Mataguisi Comp. HS Main, Pudtol Municipal Hall, Pudtol Municipal Police Station, Lower Maton Barangay Hall, Upper Maton Elementary School, Tawit National High School, and Imelda Barangay Hall.
With the newly established and actualized free WiFi sites, Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua believes it is a needed “leap towards digital transformation and a significant step to address the growing demands of the digital economy, bridging digital divide” among constituents especially those living in Geographically Isolated and disadvantaged areas.
Pascua is encouraging residents to take advantage of the program, and has expressed hopes it will have a positive impact transforming lives and communities in the era of global connectivity. By Arjay Baysa
