PUDTOL, Apayao – The municipal government led by Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua joined the Civil Service Tree Growing for a Cause at the EKB Eco-Tourism Park in Bagutong, Flora Wednesday – a demonstration of the local government’s commitment to nurturing the environment while involving communities for its sustainability.
The activity was part of the Philippine Civil Service Commission (CSC) anniversary activity, spearheaded by the Apayao-CSC field office and graced by Cordillera Regional Director Ruben Wacas.
Some Pudtol personnel were among the over 324 civil servants who joined the planting of 1,000 young trees, a showcase of oneness both with the Commission and Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr.’s vision of making the province an exemplar of environmental stewardship.
In an interview, the municipal staff agreed with Wacas’ emphasis that civil servants should become compassionate, supportive and caring for the environment, adding that government workers and residents should carry on the mandates of protecting the surroundings they live in.
Aligned with environmental conservation, the municipality has recently conducted its Waste Analysis and Characterization Study , through the municipal environment and natural resources office providing key officials basis for crafting plans and policies centered on improving and managing solid wastes, which greatly impact nature.
Pascua often reiterates what the environment needs are people with initiative, and stewards of nature driven with a spirit of camaraderie and shared responsibility for the planet in a broader scope and that environmental conservation requires discipline–a must character trait one should possess.
