LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipal government will be completing the construction of the 4-storey rural health unit by the end of this year to contribute in efforts to enhance the effective and efficient delivery of quality health services to the people in the locality.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda reported that the P4 million earlier earmarked for the completion of the project is now being used for the completion of the said health facility.
This municipal government’s rural health unit is located at the former site of the Puguis health center to accommodate the increasing number of daily clients.
The municipal chief executive claimed that the municipal government already spent approximately P12 million for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the health facility to now house the rural health unit that will be accredited by the health department and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation for the services it will be providing the people from the different barangays.
According to him, as a fast-growing locality, the municipal government wants to further improve the delivery of basic services such as health, among others, to the people so that its existing facilities and personnel will not be overwhelmed.
Mayor Salda underscored that health is one of the important basic services provided by the concerned government agencies and the municipal government to the people because it is instrumental in sustaining the productivity of individuals, thus, the ongoing upgrading of its rural health unit to cater to the increasing demand of people for quality health care.
According to him, residents are lucky because of the proximity of the Benguet General hospital (BeGH), the Cordillera Hospital of the Divine Grace and other public and private hospitals in nearby Baguio city for their health needs.
Salda pointed out that one of the major thrusts of the local government under his administration is to further enhance the delivery of basic health care services through the improvement of various health facilities that are existing in the locality.
He stipulated that the municipal government will strive to access any financial and technical assistance offered by government and private institutions to be able to realize the aspirations of local officials for better delivery of basic health care services to ensure people’s healthy and productive lives.
He assured that the municipal government can provide the basic health services through the existing health centers but for those suffering from complicated health condition, they will be referred to the appropriate tertiary health facilities in nearby Baguio City for further medical treatment.
The mayor urged residents to avail of whatever health care services available at the various health facilities in the municipality to maximize the available services offered therein.
