The city government is soliciting possible inputs from the public as inputs into the proposed construction of the P1.2 billion inter-modal terminal within portions of the land that was ceded to the city by the agriculture department way back in 2018.
This project to be undertaken through the public-private partnership (PPP) scheme was presented to concerned sectors by the proponent, Megawide Construction Corporation (MCC), during a public consultation called for the purpose Wednesday at the City Hall Multipurpose Hall.
Based on the presentation, the proponent will build the inter-modal terminal within a 5-hectare portion of the 10-hectare land ceded to the local government by the agriculture department to serve the south-bound buses from the present Gov. Pack road terminal to the proposed facility.
The proponent will operate the said terminal for a 40-year period with an agreed lease rentals to the city government with the agriculture department getting a rental share of 20 percent.
Bus companies using the inter-modal terminal will be paying to the proponent some PhP7,500 per unit per month as rental while passengers will be paying to the company PhP30 covering the use of the amenities to be provided such as ticketing booths, trollies, carts, clean comfort rooms, free Wi-Fi services, among others.
Earlier, the city government conferred to MCC the Original Proponent Status (OPS) for the project and both parties are now in the negotiation stage for the targeted 17 terms of reference which will be published and opened to Swiss Challenge by interested companies wanting to offer superior terms compared to those offered by MCC.
After both parties have agreed on the terms, this shall be submitted to the City Development Council (CDC) for approval and subsequently to the City Council which will have some 120 days to either approve or reject the proposal.
The construction of the inter-modal terminal in barangay Dontogan is just one of the city government’s big ticket projects being subjected to the PPP scheme pursuant to the mandate of the government for the active participation of the private sector in the implementation of development projects in the different parts of the country.
