“PUV Modernization is a GO, and this Modernization Program has to be embraced by the Filipino, of all ages from all places in the Philippines THAT’S THE ONLY WAY TO GO” – Says Delgra during a courtesy visit by the CBSTC team at the Central office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on March 5. LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III reiterated that they are focused on modernization supporting his previous statement when he accepted Secretary Tugade’s challenge: “Challenge accepted. Haharapin ko ng buong tapang. Walang duda, mahirap po ito. Marami ang kontra at nag-aalinlangan. Pero sa tingin ko naman po, mas maraming makikinabang. (We’ll face it with full courage. No doubt, it will be hard. There are many who are against it and are hesitant. But I think many more would benefit from it).”
The Cordillera Basic Sectors Transport Cooperative submitted documents of existing franchises for consolidation, and documents to process approval for new franchise for PUV units in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
During the meeting, Delgra discussed the advantages of adapting and implementing the PUV modernization program, wherein the team was very grateful for. Fresh updates were provided, one is the deadline for application of franchise for 2018 models which is on the 30th of June this year.
He also discussed about how proud they are of the positive results from the existing Transportation Cooperatives who are currently operational and successful. The cooperatives can easily monitor fare collections through the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS), drivers have social benefits (SSS, PhilHealth, PAG-IBIG) and sure take-home to their families, plus the environment-friendly PUVs.
He was proud of the CBSTC and very keen to see the new units on the roads of the Cordillera, and committed to be present when the cooperative launches their fleet.
