BAGUIO CITY — Philippine Veterans Bank, in collaboration with Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, City Government of Baguio, and SM City Baguio launched ‘War of Our Fathers – A Brotherhood of Heroes’ an exhibit dedicated to the war veterans at SM City Baguio on October 3. The exhibit emphasized the history of World War II and paid tribute to veterans who fought for freedom.
In his message, Veterans Bank Director Gen. Reynaldo Velasco shared the importance of the event with emphasis on appreciation of Philippine history during World War II. He also acknowledged the role it plays as a setting for preservation and sharing of the sacrifices of the veterans
“We should emulate the valiant virtues our four fathers taught us such as bravery, patriotism, and love of country,”Velasco stressed.
On the other hand, Defense Under Secretary and Administrator of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Reynaldo Mapagu stated, “The veterans of World War II have fought long and hard for our freedom, many of them have offered the ultimate sacrifice,” as he paid tribute to the veterans who fought for the country.
Colonel Ornis Macario shared his enthusiasm for the exhibit and shared thoughts on the significance of the event for the younger generation as he pointed out the inspiration it gave through bravery and courage.
Moreover, Mayor Benjamin Magalong also highlighted the importance of raising awareness among the younger generation about our history.
The ‘War of our Fathers’ exhibit is a project of the Philippine Veterans Bank, which will run from October 3 to October 17, providing an opportunity for citizens to learn more about the heroic contributions of our veterans and impart a sense of patriotism. By Hershey Vallo and Adrian Mas
