TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The National Youth Commission (NYC) has granted registration to the Pag-asa Youth Association (PYA)-Magsaysay Chapter.
According to PYA Magsaysay president Vincent Valenzuela, the group’s registration with the NYC was spurred by the implementation of “Project Sibol.”
The group, which was established on July 23, 2020, is involved in various activity components through “Project Sibol,” including capacity and capability training, personal and professional development training, socially-focused activities, education and literacy campaigns, environmental-focused activities, and health and well-being activities. These activities are aimed at enhancing young people’s knowledge and skills on their crucial roles in the community and to mobilize their support systems.
In order to ensure access to and participation in NYC-initiated programs across the country, the NYC promotes registration of kids and organizations that serve youth through its Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP).
As a YORP-registered organization, PYA Magsaysay, with 36 members will enjoy the following privileges as provided for in the 2018 Revitalized Youth Organization Registration Program (RYORP) guidelines that include the following: to be represented in congresses and activities exclusively for YORP-registered organizations; to use the YORP Seal for letters, publications, uniforms, collaterals, and other materials; to access the organizational training programs offered by NYC for free; to request for promotion of organization-initiated programs, projects, and activities through the NYC media outlets.
According to Valenzuela, the group has already engaged in useful activities since its inception like clean-up drive, bottle drive, 2020 Linggo ng Kabataan (Barangay-based), ‘Operation Pattog’ (Dengue Awareness), youth capability and capacity building training (youth volunteerism, basic life support, and fire and safety training).
Social Welfare Officer Gideon Wansi of the City Social Welfare and Development Office is optimistic that other PYA chapters will become more active to gain the same registration in the future thanks to the NYC registration granted to PYA Magsaysay.
