BAGUIO CITY- After the long wait for the 9th YMCA Cup finals birth, team ROC finally sealed its faith to be on the front seat in bracket “Y” awaiting opponent for the finals for the championship games scheduled on August 30, 2015 at 8:30 in the morning at the YMCA gym here.
After losing a game to team Irisan in the elimination round, ROC came back with mustered plans in its arsenal to evade team Irisan in their semi-final quest 90-78 in their game last August 19, 2015 here.
Both the opponents jockeying for position in the finals disclosed their game plans early in the first canto of play, the ensuing tight offense and defensive plays carried a slow scoring game posting a 19-18 blast at the end of the first canto in favour of R.O.C.
Team Irisan however build up their composure on the second canto converting sneak shots on the board to override the ROC 38-41 at the end of the buzzer. On the other hand, ROC played a stiff defense to get the ball rolling on their side forcing team Irisan into turnovers that gave ROC the advantage in the third canto of play to be back on the front seat with a 29-16 blast to edge Team Irisan with a ten point lead 67-57 at the end of the third canto.
Trying to turn the pace of the game, team Irisan resorted to three point plays above the arc but however faltered that gave ROC the advantage to post a 90-78 win over team Irisan at the end of the fourth period to move to the finals.
Meanwhile, REUNITE also proved themselves to be the second ranked team on bracket “C” after losing its bid on the semi finals by quotient system to KUYA Ponz, however, came back to reclaim their position in their cross-over match denying Kuya Ponz 93-76 in their second game of a best of two series in the semis.
On the other hand, the MASTERS bowed to BWD-A 76-80 on the second game of their two to beat game on the semis, however, the MASTERS will still see action against GT QUEST on the finals for third and fourth places.
