Safety Olympics is a yearly competition by the Red Cross that seeks to increase the awareness of Benguet youth on the importance giving first aid during emergencies.
Robert Namoro, Benguet board member, emphasized in his speech as the guest speaker that said competition builds the learners’ skills that will be used for future situations.
“We should train the young generation on what to do during emergencies. That is why first aid is incorporated in the K-12 curriculum in MAPEH subject specifically in Health 9 and DRRM for Senior High School,” he added.
At least 18 secondary and elementary schools participated in the Safety Olympics which is part of the Adivay Festival.
