TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) of Barangay Ipil participated in the two-day refresher training organized by the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS), March 2-3.
Barangay Chairman Tolentino Batalao said that the refresher training is timely and relevant so BPAT members would be reminded of their duties and execute them as well.
PSMS Alvius Codrero of the TCPS, who lectured on BPAT courtesy, discipline and leadership stressed that BPAT is a partner of the city government in maintaining peace and order and preventing crime and violence.
PSMS Ford Wassig spoke about BPAT ideas, duties, and responsibilities; PLT Ryan Antonio spoke about first responder action and basic investigation; PLT John Macli-ing spoke about traffic management; and PLT Judith Alimani spoke about RA 7610 (Child Abuse Law) and RA 9262 (Anti Violence against Women and Children Act).
PLT Ruben Balanoy, who spoke on the topic of RA 9165 (Comprehensive and Dangerous Drugs Act), and Ptr. Reynaldo Tayaban of the City Barangay Affairs and Community Relations Office (CBACRO) spoke on Moral Recovery Program, Atty. Guillermo Lawagan of the City Legal Office spoke about Katarungang Pambarangay, and representatives from SWAT Tabuk discussed arrest procedures and self-defense.
According to City Mayor Darwin Estrañero the BPAT should be effectively enforced, , because it contributes significantly to the community’s well-being, particularly in terms of maintaining peace and order.
