TABUK CITY, Kalinga – At least 218 individuals from Brgy. Bulanao were affected by flash flood last September 24 as a result of local weather disturbance received family food packs from the city government.
The distribution was led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC), which also validated the list of affected families submitted by the barangay.
The family food packs contain five kilos of rice, some canned goods and packs of noodles.
Social Welfare Officer Marinel Dorgay said only those who were validated were eligible to receive the food packs.
The distribution of food packs to typhoon-affected individuals and families is one function of CSWDO as the team leader of the food and non-food response cluster and this is to provide immediate assistance that will respond to the urgent food needs of the affected beneficiaries.
Assistant CDRRM Officer Raul Albert said the CDRRMC also did a Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis to assess the magnitude and severity of damages and identify priority needs of the affected families during emergencies in order to sustain and preserve life. By Darwin S. Serion
