TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government opened and inaugurated the newly renovated Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) on Friday.
The inauguration is a testament to the strong partnership between the Supreme Court of the Philippines and the city government.
In a message by City Information Officer Aurora Amilig who represented City Mayor Darwin Estrañero during the event, she said that one of the goals of the Estrañero administration is the construction and improvement of public buildings for the people’s consumption.
She said that the city government funded the renovation of the MTCC building recognizing the vital role it plays in upholding justice in the city.
Further, Amilig said a trial courthouse should be housed in a decent, functional, and dignified environment to deliver its programs effectively.
Hon. Tshaine Taguinod-Maggay, MTCC Tabuk presiding judge, in her message said the new and renovated courtroom is not just a building but a promise to the citizenry that justice is accessible to all, with humility, integrity and compassion.
“The support of the city government for this renovation project results to a renewed purpose, to serve the community with dignity,” the judge emphasized.
Additionally, Hon. Taguinod remarked that the opening of the new MTCC building is a prelude to what can be achieved if people work together for a common purpose, describing it as a beacon of hope, fairness and equality for all.
Prior to the ribbon cutting and inauguration ceremony was a Thanksgiving mass presided by Fr. Ranhilio Aquino, dean of the Graduate College of Law, San Beda University.
The MTCC Tabuk is a first-level court that resolves legal issues and disputes, and whose primary function is to hear and decide on cases that occur within its geographical jurisdiction.
