City officials recently requested the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) to come up with a project proposal for the immediate repair and maintenance of all fountain facilities at Burnham Park, including cost estimates, and the same to be considered as a priority project of the local government.
Under Resolution No. 264, series of 2023, local legislators considered the earlier manifestations of City Environment and Parks Management Officer lawyer Rhenan Diwas relative to the status of the fountain facilities at Burnham Park where it was requested that there is a need to look for funds for the repair and maintenance of these facilities that will help in providing added attractions for residents and visitors frequenting the park.
In a separate action, the local legislative body passed Resolution No. 265, series of 2023, which requested the CEPMO to submit to the council a report on the particulars, including the estimated budget and the parts to be changed on the proposed repair of the fountain at the Rose Garden.
Earlier, Diwas wrote the members of the council on April 12, 2023 that forwarded for favorable action the letter dated April 12, 2023 of Maribel T. Chagwaten, proprietor, Mabelline Events Management Services, signifying intent to organize, manage and administer a Summer Trade Fair along Juan Luna Drive within Burnham Park with the commitment to beautify the landscape of the Rose Garden by repairing the fountains and planting some 10,000 pots of roses within the area to help in enticing people to visit the park for their rest and recreation requirements.
Under Resolution No. 263, series of 2023, the council approved the request for the use of Juan Luna Drive at Burnham Park as the venue for the Summer Trade fair for 15 days by the Mabelline Events Management Services subject to conditions.
Among the conditions for the approval of the said trade fair include for the proponent to repair the existing fountains at Rose Garden and that the proponent shall provide 10,000 pots of roses to rehabilitate and beautify the landscape of the Rose Garden.
However, the agreement to be entered by the CEPMO with Mabelline Events Management Services, to include the plight of the bicycle concessionaires in relation to the said Summer Trade Fair, shall be submitted to the council for confirmation.
Further, the body required the proponent to submit a terminal report to the City Mayor, the local legislative body and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) detailing the activities undertaken and sales performance and to include the fees that were charged to the exhibitors.
