City officials recently requested the City Legal Office (CLO) to submit to the local legislative body a report on the details and status of Certificate of Ancestral Land Title (CALT) No. 0-CALT-91 and the status of cases over parcels of land allegedly.
Overlapping within Proclamation No. 603, series of 1940 for information and appropriate enactment of legislative measures.
Under Resolution No. 531, series of 2024, local legislators stated that in her letter dated August 19, 2024, lawyer Jennilyn Dawayan, regional executive director of the Cordillera office of the Department of Agriculture (DA-CAR),claimed that due to the sub judice rule, the agency is unable to disclose any information pertaining to the case at this time and revealing details could potentially affect the legal proceedings and undermine the fairness of the trial process being undertaken for the said purpose.
In her 1st indorsement dated June 3, 2024, City Legal Officer lawyer Althea Rosana V. Alberto forwarded to the local legislative body their investigation and fact-finding on O-CALT-90 and O-cALT-91, all in the name of heirs of Ikang paus, including any and all derivative titles arising from the same, regarding the filing of cases over parcels of land within Proclamation NO. 603, series of 1940 overlapped by CALT.
The body is set to act on the matter as soon as the said report shall have been submitted by the concerned office to help in strengthening the local government’s position on the said matter that had dragged on for a number of decades.
