MANILA, Philippines – “Technology has revolutionized everything,” said RepublicAsia Chief Executive Officer Bran Reluao.
But with technology and digital media transforming rapidly, how can we keep up and be part of its growth?
Here in the Philippines, the digital economy kept growing in 2022. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the digital economy was worth P2.08 trillion last year, contributing 9.4% to the country’s gross domestic product.
To equip the students to deal with these changes and address the expected demand from these two industries, RepublicAsia, iACADEMY and Kumu have teamed up for the summit “Lead Like a Pro: Unlocking the Potential of Future Tech and Digital Media.” It will be held on May 12, 2023 at the iACADEMY Auditorium.
To guide the students and give them a comprehensive take on the world of technology and digital media, we will gather the experts who will speak on the current and future trends in New Journalism, Content Creation, Data Science and Algorithm and Online Entrepreneurship.
“This conference will lay the foundation for the next generation of tech and digital practitioners by providing a framework for tech and new media in the new way of doing things. Together we hope to create a culture of innovation that will benefit not only our students but the industry as a whole,” said iACADEMY Chief Operating Officer Raquel Wong during the contract-signing for the event.
Among those lined up to grace the event are award-winning journalists, content creators and chief executive officers who are renowned leaders in the field of data science and online entrepreneurship.
“The goal is to educate and prepare future practitioners who will elevate the practice and strengthen the legitimacy of assets produced through tech and digital media,” Reluao added saying the summit also aims to provide students and parents with insights into the latest developments in the science of digital media and to explore the emerging trends in the media tech industry.
Meanwhile, Kumu Co-founder James Rumohr pointed out that it’s important to be innovative and to find ways to connect technology.
“What can we do on the educational side? Students will be the leaders later on. The things that you do will set the trend for the next generation. I really believe that educational partnership is key for success,” Rumohr said.
Highlighting the relevance of technology for the country and future demand of the industries, Reluao said “Gen Zs are very different in the way they think, provide content and I want to share it to everyone. In sharing that information and understanding the young generation and connecting it with the millennials who are currently our leaders… we [can] make something different. And I hope the Philippines will become one of the countries that will move forward with the use of technology.”
Activities lined up for the summit include presentations, panel and roundtable discussions, and co-teach seminars where participants can directly learn from resource speakers. Lead Like a Pro: Unlocking the Potential of Future Tech and Digital Media will be held on May 12, 2023 at the iACADEMY Nexus Auditorium.
