BAGUIO CITY – The DA-RFO CAR Research Division conducted a two-day training on Technical Report Writing held on September 7-8, 2023 at the Organic Building, BABRC, Dontogan, Baguio City. This training capacitated 34 researchers from the agency to hone their skills in effectively and efficiently packaging their research outputs.
The capacity-building was spearheaded by the Cordillera Research for Development and Extension Network (CorRDEN). This is the second capacity building the network held this year.
Dr. Carlito P. Laurean, a seasoned researcher and retired professor of Benguet State University, was the resource speaker for the whole duration of the training. Laurean extensively discussed the technical report writing format as well as the process and guidelines in conducting research. Highlighting the importance of reviewing literature and citing reliable sources, he also gave valuable points on the guidelines of using graphs, charts and drawings that can be utilized when presenting data.
On the second day, a workshop on proposal making was conducted. The training concluded after the participants presented their proposals for comments and critiquing. Laurean, together with the heads of the divisions, provided their valuable inputs for improvement. Some of the research topics that were presented focused on technology business incubation, urban gardening, rice mechanization, corn mechanization, and heirloom rice project.
Laurean applauded the staff who came up with agreeable research proposals under the Regional Integrated Research and Development, Extension Agenda and Program (RIRDEAP) and encouraged the junior researchers to continue improving their skills to become better researchers for agricultural farmers.
