TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Following Memorandum No. 373 issued on November 6 in response to the possible effects of Typhoon “Marce,” residents in hazard-prone barangays were advised to undertake preemptive and/or forced evacuation.
As stated in the Memorandum, it is the concern of the city government to take all actions possible to the extent that it aims to prevent the vulnerability of the constituents at the instance any disaster may strike.
In the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council emergency meeting earlier today, necessary actions relative to the possible effects of the typhoon were discussed.
During the meeting, Raul Albert said that residents in hazard-prone barangays, such as landslide and flood-prone areas, may evacuate in designated evacuation centers for their safety.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office will provide necessary aid to the possible victims of the typhoons.
The city government frontline offices, including the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and other civic action groups, are on standby for response to typhoon victims. There will be continuous monitoring of the water levels of the Chico River and its tributaries.
During the meeting, all barangays were advised to use their rescue vehicles in emergency response operations during the typhoon. Barangay officials must also handle their respective areas of responsibility.
Some parts of Kalinga are now under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 as of 8:00 PM November 6, according to DOST PAG-ASA weather updates. The province’s forecast accumulated landfall is moderate to heavy (50-100mm).
