BAGUIO CITY — The Women’s Month Opening was welcomed with motions in place in line with the Magna Carta of Women which seeks to protect, fulfill and promote the rights of women.
Topics revolving around women empowerment and male encouragement to be women advocates were highlighted as a need by the Cordillera Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC-CAR).
“Napakaliit talaga ng percentage, I don’t know why males are not encouraged or motivated to become ethical assistants of GAD. We also need more male advocates.” said Gender and Development (GAD) Co-chairperson Ferdinand P. Gonzales.
RGADC-CAR also changed their regional logo to exude their message to all wherein its exterior circle has a total of eight different colors to symbolize the six provinces and two cities in the CAR connected or united as one.
The Cordillera map at the background shows the region’s solidarity and regional identity.
Also, the gender signs and man and woman standing together showcases gender equality, with the color purple supporting the idea through its symbolism — women’s empowerment and gender equality.
In celebration of women’s month, nation- and worldwide, unity, compassion, and action are set in motion for the betterment of our society both for women and men who are advocating alongside the women. By Dessa Joi Peralta
