TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Cordillera office of the Department of Agriculture distributed a total worth of Php 25,944,990.79 vouchers under the Rice Resiliency Project (RRP) II Fertilizer Component in Tabuk City, Kalinga through the e-voucher system in partnership with the Development Bank of the Philippines-Baguio.
The vouchers were given to the Office for City Agriculture Services which were distributed to 8,271 rice farmers of the city for them to claim fertilizers from the 14 accredited merchants in the city.
Mary Grace Lumiwes, 56 years old, a rice farmer from Bulanao, Tabuk City said that she is grateful to the department for the fertilizers she received as it decreased their production cost considering that fertilizers are at their price peak and she also hoped that the interventions continue in the future.
The recipients of the fertilizer vouchers are farmers of Tabuk City who were registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture who received hybrid and inbred seeds under the program. Each beneficiary received vouchers based on their registered rice area.
The launching cum simulation of the distribution of vouchers was conducted last March 4 with selected farmers following a meeting with the different accredited merchants in order to assess how to improve the implementation of the activity. While more distributions are currently being conducted in the different store locations within the city until March 15.
Tabuk City is the pilot area of the region for the e-voucher system while the other beneficiaries of the project in the other provinces and municipalities received fertilizers in-kind.
