TUBA, Benguet – A 24-year old rider died after his motorcycle rammed into a concrete barrier at sitio Lasong, barangay Tadiangan, here, Tuesday night.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Minardo Bentrez Bassit, 24, a motorcycle rider who is a resident of Tadiangan Proper, Tuba, Benguet.
Probers disclosed that the victim was driving his motorcycle on the way to Baguio city when he allegedly miscalculated in negotiating a curved portion of the road until he lost control of the bike and rammed into the concrete barrier before falling into a sewer canal.
Concerned residents and responding police authorities immediately rushed the victim to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to severe head injuries as a result of the said accident.
Residents nearby reportedly heard a loud sound similar to a vehicle ramming into a hard object, but they did not know what actually happened.
When they went to the area, the witnesses saw the victim already sprawled bloodied on the ground near his motorcycle.
Further, the victim was found without any protective helmet that caused him to suffer from severe head injuries. HENT
