Hundreds of families from different sectors in Rizal received aid from the office of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) this week.
Beneficiaries from various towns in Rizal have expressed their gratitude for the lifeline extended to them. Helen Badenas, who cares for her grandson with autism, said she would use the assistance to buy medicine and pay for therapy.
Given her age and disability, which have limited her employment opportunities, she said the aid will provide her family with a fresh start. “Ako po ay nagpapasalamat dahil tinawagan kami upang tulungan. Kahit papaano ay makakapagtinda ako kahit may deperensya ang kamay ko,” she said.
Laarni Suarez from Cainta, for her part, shared that she recently lost her husband and is currently struggling in supporting her children’s education. “Maraming salamat po, Senator Alan, sa tulong na inyong ibinigay sa amin. Tuloy-tuloy po ang pagaaral ng mga anak ko,” Suarez said, her voice brimming with gratitude and hope.
From the City of Antipolo, Evangeline Varona, an online seller taking care of her newborn, said, “Nag-o-online selling po ako dahil mahirap ang sitwasyon ko kasi maliit pa ang anak ko. Napakalaking tulong po nito. Ipandadagdag ko sa pinagkakakitaan ko, at magiisip ako ng bagong business.”
More aid will be distributed to alleviate the plight of fisherfolk in Angono, Rizal who have been severely impacted by recent typhoons.
The partnership between Cayetano and the DSWD, in collaboration with Cainta Mayor Elen Nieto and Antipolo Mayor Jun Ynares as well as the the local government units of Binangonan, Jala Jala, and Angono, continues to provide assistance to those in need.
Mayor Ynares thanked Senator Cayetano for always remembering his constituents and extending his programs to them.
“We’re very thankful. Alam namin na tuloy-tuloy ang iyong pagsisikap na makatulong sa nakakarami kundi sa lahat,” he said.
