TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Vehicular traffic accidents are increasing in the city, a report from the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS) confirms.
This is the statement released by PMaj Angelito Naoy during the fourth quarter joint meeting of the City Peace and Order Council, City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and Task Force to End Local Communist and Armed Conflict held at Golden Berries Hotel and Convention Center on November 27.
Naoy said the TCPS recorded 42 road accidents from the period September to November 2024, as compared to the 10 cases recorded from the same period in 2023.
These traffic accidents resulted in physical harm, the most serious, property damage, and self-injury, which led to death, he stated.
According to Naoy, the primary causes of road accidents and collisions are human error and the collision with stray animals. Human error, which accounts for 40 percent, is linked to poor turning, weariness, inattentive driving, drunk driving and speeding, he stated.
During the meeting, Naoy also informed that the TCPS apprehended 4,079 violators of the city traffic ordinance between September and November 2024, with fines totaling to PhP2,242,000.00. The most common offense is the failure to wear a helmet.
During the council meeting, Mayor Darwin Estrañero emphasized the importance of driving safely to prevent accidents and injuries.
