SALLAPADAN, Abra – Police operatives successfully arrested the town’s No. 4 top most wanted person during the service of his warrant for alleged illegal logging at sitio Sadag, barangay Gangal here around 6:30 am Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the arrested wanted person as Jeffred Pait Magayam, 32, married, farmer and a resident of sitio Mabongtot, barangay Ud-udiao, Sallapadan, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed concerned residents informed elements of the Sallapadan Municipal Police Station that the victim was proceeding to Bangued town on board his motorcycle that prompted the establishment of a police checkpoint for his arrest.
Magayam was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Rafael F. Alzate of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 1 of Bangued, Abra for violation of the provisions of Section 68 of Presidential Decree (PD) 705 or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.
The suspect is now detained at the Sallapadan Municipal Police Station for documentation prior to his turnover to the issuing court for the disposition of the case filed against him.
