The Department of Agriculture Cordillera (DA-CAR) Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) is looking at a satisfying accomplishment of its physical targets for 2024.
In the year-end assessment, current and ongoing projects being implemented by the division were presented for them to be guided on additional measures to be undertaken if needed.
“We have suggested for this 2024’s Year-End Assessment that project personnel in charge, project engineers, and provincial focal’s should present the current number of projects and intervention being implemented under DA-CAR RAED either per province or per banner program covering infrastructure and machinery, and post-harvest facilities that has been delivered, completed, including still ongoing projects,” DA-CAR RAED Chief Engr. Filemon Salvador said.
The Regional Agricultural Engineering Division is the support arm of DA-CAR on rice, corn, high-value crops, livestock, and organic program that provides Agricultural machinery/equipment and post-harvest facilities under the regular program of the Department of Agriculture.
Among the programs assessed were the P300,000 Multiplier farms project for Benguet and Ifugao, the status of the local Farm to Market Roads National Program (FMRNP) 2025-2028 with the number of City/Municipalities in the region recorded at 77 aside from the Number of completed LFMRNP proposals at 2 covering Ifugao and Mountain Province, the Fuel Assistance recording a total of 2,258 with 2,246 validated while 12 beneficiaries are currently undergoing validation, and the Nationwide Machinery Inventory for CAR listed at 8,448 beneficiaries.
RAED-CAR primarily oversees the planning and implementation of agri-fisheries mechanization and infrastructure programs and projects of the department.
“We need to compare our financial status of payments for 2024 and identify from this completed, how many have been paid, aside from determining when will other still ongoing projects be paid which is why we need to emphasize and identify what projects has been completed, still to be completed, and current projects needing obligation which will be our report for the year-end,” the Agriculture Engineering Division Chief stated.
DA-CAR RAED is composed of the Engineering Plans, Designs and Specifications Section (EPDSS), Programs and Projects Management Section (PPMS), and the Standards Regulation and Enforcement Section (SRES).
Among the services the division provides are Validation of Farm-to-Market Road Requests, Validation of Small Scale Irrigation Projects, Validation of Agricultural Infrastructures, Machinery, and Post-Harvest Facilities, Assistance In the Registration and the Issuance of Permit to Operate (PTO) for the Manufacturer, Fabricator, Assembler, Distributor, Dealer, Importer, or Exporter (MFADDIE) of Agricultural And Fisheries Machinery, Preparation of Program of Works and Detailed Engineering Design for Agricultural Infrastructures and Facilities for various DA Banner Program, and the Monitoring/ Inspection/ Supervision of construction DA Infrastructure/ Facilities Projects.
“We also need to determine issues on why these projects have not been completed for us to make the necessary measures to reach our 2024 targets, aside from discussing the targets for the first semester of 2025,” Salvador added. By JTLlanes
