TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Special Concerns and Coordinating Office (CSCCO) led by CSCC Officer Glen Wansi oriented the first batch of scholars in the city this school year, earlier today, June 14, 2024.
During the orientation, the CSCCO discussed the mode of payment, conditions for scholarship grants, grounds for termination, incentives for grantees, and more.
According to CSCCO Staff Amado Bomosao, there are at least 360 new grantees this academic year, with the majority of them being senior high school students.
Bomosao highlighted that under the administration of City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, senior high school students from public schools have been allowed to apply for scholarships for the first time. He also stated that they have lowered the required average for grant renewal to 75%, making it more accessible for students to maintain their scholarships.
Additionally, Gatchay Claver from the CSCCO emphasized that even with the lower average requirement, many of the graduates under the program are honor students. “Ditoy ayan tayo, as long as makapasa da, haan nga masayang jay kwarta ti gobyerno ngem saan nga gapu dayta nga haan yu ipapati nga agiskwela,” he said.
Councilor Eduardo Sacayle, Chairperson of the Committee on Education, assured the continuous support of the city government, “Napintas daytuy nga programa ta adu na-pagraduate tayon,” he said.
According to CSCCO, approximately 800 scholarship recipients graduated this year.
