BAGUIO CITY – The School of Medicine (SOM) of Saint Louis University (SLU) were declared champions of the World Famous Lantern Parade held last December 1, 2016 along Session Road-Harrison Road-Athletic Bowl, here.
The SOM romped their way to the championship, besting the other schools and departments of the university. They displayed lanterns and performed while representing the country of Indonesia.
Along with the overall championship, the SOM entry was also adjudged as the Most Effective in Use of Lights, the Theme Award for Parade Concept Excellence, and the Award in Creative Concept and Design.
The School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) came in 1st Runner-up while representing the Dominican Republic and the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) 2nd Runner-up representing the country of Belgium.
Third Runner-up belonged to the School of Natural Sciences (SNS) representing Haiti while the teens of the Laboratory High School (SLU-LHS) portrayal of Japan came in 4th Runner-up.
SEA was also Best in Costume and the Most Energetic group. The School of Law’s (SOL) Monoglia Lantern was adjudged as the best Mother Lantern.
Contrary to popular belief that they are the hardest group to handle, the young kids of the Laboratory Elementary School (SLU-LES) bested all their older counterparts for the Most Disciplined Group while rendering performance depicting the United States of America.
