KAPANGAN, Benguet – A Science teacher at Kapangan Central National High School (KCNHS) found out that a Science courseware was effective in improving Grade 10 students’ performance in the subject.
Amor Parista, a Science teacher, noted that through LTWARE, a Science courseware, the learners showed a significant satisfactory performance in their Science subject after they were able to manifest the attainment of the most essential learning competencies in Science 10 throughout the school year 2021-2022.
The respondents were Grade 10 students who had 75 percent and below second grading grades in Science subject.
Meanwhile, LTWARE is a set of computer-assisted instruction which may be used as a supplement for instruction or as a complete lesson. With this, the computer or any electronic devices can assist the teacher in implementing any or all of the four essential phases of instruction like presenting information, guiding the students, providing student practice and assessing student learning.
LTWARE was developed to address the needs of learners for them to enjoy learning in a situation where distance learning is needed. This would ensure the continuity of learning amid crisis like the Covid-19 pandemic.
Parista explained the use of this courseware is a free self-learning style in which immediate reinforcement and feedback are provided to practice exercises, thus, motivates students and creates interest and excitement.
Said contextualized courseware could also be utilized as a supplementary learning resource.
Due to its effectiveness, the DepEd-Benguet Division has approved the said courseware as an innovation of Parista entitled LTWARE: Science Courseware for Better Understanding on the Concepts of Living Things. By Amor P. Parista
