The Schools Division of Benguet through the Curriculum and Implementation Division conducted a Virtual Training on Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) for Elementary and Secondary English Teachers on May 26-28.
Francis F. Peckley, English Education Program Supervisor, welcomed the participants and stated the purpose of the training.
Benjamin Sacla discussed the principles of Communicative Language Teaching while Constancia Jane Abodiles talked about what does communicative grammar teaching involve and means of mediating grammar instruction and activities.
Gregoria Lipa-od on the other hand provided ways to integrate grammar into a skill-based lesson; Donaville Bistid on correcting grammar and giving feedbacks; Tuesda Lucio on planning a communicative lesson; and Joan Palpeg on task-based lesson.
Moreover, the three-day training went by through series of workshops and presentations of outputs from the elementary and secondary teacher-participants.
The training ended with insights from participants and remarks from the education program supervisor. Peckley concluded the activity by giving another meaning to CLT, “Prepare CREATIVE activities to enhance oral skills of students, LOVE what we are doing and from that we are certain that we are providing appropriate TASKS.”
