LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — In a significant stride toward inclusive and sustainable development, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Baguio Extension Office and the National Irrigation Administration-Cordillera Administrative Region (NIA-CAR) officially forged a partnership on 10 June 2025 through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The agreement, signed by Atty. Regina May Cajucom – De Guzman, Director of the SEC Baguio Extension Office, and Engr. Benito T. Espique, Jr., Regional Manager A of NIA-CAR, underscores a shared commitment to strengthen the compliance of SEC-registered farmers’ and irrigators’ associations while promoting financial literacy and investor protection at the grassroots level.
The collaboration seeks to conduct regular consultations, capacity-building programs, and investor education activities designed to inform farmers, irrigators, and other stakeholders about SEC reportorial requirements and maintaining corporate good standing.
Under the agreement, the SEC will provide expertise in investor education through the development of modules and resource materials, while NIA-CAR will offer logistical support and ensure the active participation of their program beneficiaries.
This MOA aligns with the government’s push for inclusive economic growth and the promotion of livelihood sustainability in rural communities. With these efforts, both agencies reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the Filipino people and ensuring that progress reaches even the most remote communities.
Today’s ceremonial signing signals the start of a dynamic and impactful collaboration, paving the way for stronger partnerships that will support the country’s agricultural backbone and catalyze grassroots development in the Cordillera region.
