Marijuana Some 36 bricks of marijuana were recovered by combined police operatives after the couriers were able to elude arrest within the premises of Canao bridge, Calanan here around 8 pm Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent George Daskeo, provincial director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, said a concerned civilian tipped law enforcers on the alleged transport of the illegal drugs towards the city proper but the two couriers were able to sense the presence of the police forcing them to escape and left behind their motorcycle and the contraband.
Recovered from the area apart from the motorcycle of the suspects were one sack containing two cartoons with 24 marijuana bricks, one back pack containing 7 marijuana bricks and one travelling bag with 5 marijuana bricks.
The seized contraband were immediately brought to the Tabuk City Police Office for proper inventory and for the conduct of the appropriate qualitative tests among others.
Daskeo cited probers are looking into the possible identity of the couriers of the contraband for them to effect their arrest.
