BAGUIO CITY – A 65-year old senior citizen died after he was bumped by a pickup along Marcos Highway, here, Wednesday.
Police Col. Ruel Tagel, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as Danilo Salazar Ventura, 65, a resident of Imelda Marcos barangay.
The driver of the pick up that bumped the victim is a 22-year old resident of Sto. Tomas Proper barangay.
Probers disclosed that the victim was walking along the sidewalk when he was accidentally bumped by the pick up driven by the suspect who allegedly fell asleep while driving his vehicle that caused him to lose control of the same until it hit the victim.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment of the injuries he sustained but he expired while undergoing close medical supervision by attending physicians.
The driver is now under the custody of the police authorities awaiting the filing of charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide while his vehicle was impounded pending the results of the investigation of the said case. HENT
