FLORA, Apayao – The Army Recruitment Office (ARO) for North Luzon conducted an orientation program for senior high school (SHS) students at Flora National High School on September 6 to guide students through the enlistment process for Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) and Officer Candidate Course (OCC).
This is part of the orientation caravan in the province in partnership with the Army Recruitment Program of the provincial government under the Apayao Socio-economic Efforts Necessary for Growth (ASENG) Program.
Sergeant Jessie Sumibcay and Staff Sergeant Richard Calilan from the ARO stressed the opportunities available for those who seek to serve in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). However, they need to pass the Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) as the first step toward enlistment.
“Masapol yu nga maipasa iti AFPSAT. Yan ang first step para makapasok kayo sa AFP. Once na naipasa ninyo yan, napakaraming opportunity ang magbubukas. Nagpapasalamat tayo sa provincial government, lalo na kay Gov. Bulut, dahil napakaganda ng programa niyang Army Recruitment,” Sumibcay shared.
Students were also informed of the benefits of being in the military service such as the opportunity to pursue college education while serving.
“Pwede par in kayong mag-aral ng kolehiyo kahit nasa serbisyo na kayo. Yan ang isa sa mga benefits ng pagiging sundalo. Not only you can help yourself, your own growth, you can help uplift your family as well,” Calilan added.
For those interested in taking the exam after graduation, Calilan advised them not to hesitate to ask questions and to stay updated with the army recruitment team’s activities through the provincial government.
The caravan will continue its tour in Calanasan on September 9, Pudtol on September 10, Conner on September 11, and Kabugao on September 12 as part of its mission to inspire more yApayao youth to join the AFP. By Jess Christley Marquez
