BAGUIO CITY – Session road, the city’s main thoroughfare, will be closed to vehicular traffic starting 12 midnight of December 1 up to 12 midnight of Dec ember 2 to pave the way for the conduct of various events lined up by the private sector and the city government for the opening of the Christmas in Baguio month-long activities.
The closure of Session Road will allow thousands of young children from the different private and public day care centers in the city to participate in the traditional children’s parade from Upper Session Road up to the Melvin Jones grandstand. The children will be clothed depicting the merrymaking for the Yuletide season in order to entertain the public with their performances along the streets and in the Melvin Jones grandstand.
At around 6 pm, city officials will lead the lighting of the P800,000 Christmas tree located at the rotunda of Session Road while over 10,000 students of the St. Louis University (SLU) will be displaying assorted kinds of lantern during the traditional lantern parade from Upper Session Road up to the Baguio Athletic Bowl passing through Harrison Road at around 6:30 pm.
The opening of the Christmas in Baguio festivities will be capped with a colorful and fantastic fireworks display at around 8:30 pm before the road will be opened to vehicular traffic at around 12:01 am of December 2.
Motorists are advised to strictly adhere to the stringent traffic rules and regulations in order to decongest the traffic in the city proper brought about by the closure of the said road.
