BAGUIO CITY – A city council measure urging the General Services Office (GSO) to conduct regular site cleaning at the historical landmark of the first Philippine Commission and to carry out the removal of wires, eyesore cables, and other obstructions, has been complied with.
This was disclosed in a status report submitted to Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, Dec. 20, 2023, on the legislative monitoring and evaluation of resolution no. 171, series of 2021, which also tasks the City Planning and Development Office and the City Buildings and Architecture Office to introduce site inspection plan in consonance with the provisions of Republic Act 10066 and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
The Act provides for the protection and conservation of the national cultural heritage, strengthening the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and its affiliated cultural agencies, and for other purposes.
The status report revealed that the GSO has conducted site cleaning activities at the first Philippine Commission historical landmark on April 26, 2021 and another on August 30, 2022.
It was submitted by local legislative staff asst. III Nechel Ocasion and noted by local legislative staff officer V Protacio Tangalin Jr., with city council secretary Brenner Bengwayan recommending approval. By Gaby B. Keith
