SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Six persons involved in illegal drug trade were arrested in simultaneous operations here conducted by almost a hundred policemen who were mobilized to implement ‘OPLAN “ANOP (catch)” in line with the PNP’s “One Time, Big Time.”
Superintendent Julius Suriben, the city police chief, said the arrested persons include a top drug pusher in the city and 16 sachets of shabu, ammunitions and various drug paraphernalia, were confiscated.
Suriben identified the suspects as Jason Awingan, a former Overseas Filipino Worker and a resident of San Gabriel, La Union and Marlon Ornido.
Also arrested were spouses, Junsan and Rhea Gaon, both were on the City and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council watch list and residents of Barangay Ilocanos Norte; and Dwayne Ancheta, the top 10 listed-drug personality and a resident of Poro Point.
Suspects were arrested based on search warrants issued by Judge Alpino Florendo of the Regional Trial Court Branch 33 here.
Police also arrested Angel Flores, a resident of Barangay Sevilla with a standing warrant of arrest for illegal drugs violation of RA 9165 with no bail recommended. Flores was on the City Drug Wanted List.
Suriben said that 121 drug personalities and 87 wanted persons in the city were already arrested since January this year due to their intensified operation.
