BONTOC, Mountain Province – Six barangays recently received a cash prize of ₱10,000.00 each for their early submission of the 2022 Barangay Annual Budget and Devolution Transition Plan (DTP).
Barangays Tocucan, Maligcong, Bontoc Ili, Poblacion, Alab Proper, and Gonogon received their cash prize after the State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) delivered by
Mayor Franklin Odsey on February 7, 2022, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol Auditorium.
The Punong Barangays of the recognized villages are Wilbert Padngaran, John Lac-ayen, Paula Pangesfan, Glenn Saavedra, Sr., Hye Bellang, and Rudy Gittabao, respectively.
Barangay Tocucan received the award for three consecutive years.
According to Municipal Budget Officer Aida Lingbanan Barangay Budget for the next Fiscal Year should be submitted by the Punong Barangay to the Sangguniang Bayan on or before October 16 of the current year.
Meanwhile, Odsey remarked that this award serves as a motivation for other barangays to do the same.
“Congratulations to the barangays that promptly submitted their Annual Budget and DTP. We hope that there will be more recipients of this award in the coming years,” he added.
Early preparation and submission of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Budget for review and declaring it operative by the Sangguniang Bayan has a great impact on the implementation of barangay government programs, projects, and activities (PPAs).
With this, the mayor mentioned that early submission means earlier implementation, and the delivery of services to the constituents will not be hampered.
The early submission of the Barangay Annual Budget is also attributed to the collective efforts of the Office of the Municipal Budget Officer, Office of the Municipal Treasurer, Office of the Municipal Planning and Development Officer, and Office of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer in going around the barangays to conduct budget orientations.
Also, the concerned offices of the municipal government in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government through Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lourdes Claire Peel have been assisting the Barangay LGUs in the preparation of their DTPs.
