LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Six Benguet couples tied the knot during the Adivay Mass Wedding held at the San Jose the Husband of Mary Parish Church on Friday, November 15.
Organized by the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD) and the San Jose the Husband of Mary Parish Church, the mass wedding was open to interested new couples, civilly married couples, and couples that have more than 5 years of living together.
Rev. Fr. Rosito S. Pedro Jr., who officiated the wedding, delivered a homily on how the growth of the province has a connection to the strength of its families.
“Kung ano ang nangyayari sa loob ng tahanan, iyon ang mangyayari sa buong probinsya,” Pedro Jr. noted.
Moreover, Pedro Jr. mentioned that there were 11 couples that initially registered, however, some of them were not able to fulfill the requirements. Likewise, the children of the newlyweds were also baptized after the wedding ceremony.
SP Committee Chair on Social Service and Family, and Co-chairperson of the Mass Wedding Committee, Hon. Alexander Fianza expressed his appreciation for the couples who embraced the sacrament of marriage. Provincial Governor Melchor Diclas likewise shared his thanks to the couples for participating in the event.
After the ceremony, a reception was held for the newlyweds and their friends and families.
The tradition of the Adivay Mass Wedding was restored back in 2019 after three years of not being practiced. Since then, the mass wedding has always been part of the Adivay Festival, giving couples a chance for church weddings. By Heleina Taeza and Rachelle Quilling
