Prior to receiving the grant, members of the Boomalu Ka Bagumbayan received training in organizational development, leadership, basic business management, and microenterprise development to fully capacitate and equip them with the necessary skills to sustain the group and advance their projects.
Partners from DSWD-CAR and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) are present at the awarding, having played an important role in the execution of their approved project proposal.
Aida Bermillo, CSWDO focal person on livelihood programs, who has supported the group’s idea since the planning stage, encouraged members to work together indefinitely to ensure the viability and sustainability of their proposed enterprise.
According to Aida Habawel of DSWD, the provision of seed capital to qualified associations in the city demonstrates the strong relationship and connection between the DSWD and the city government in assisting beneficiaries in alleviating poverty and earning extra income through microenterprise.
The DSWD-CAR reminds members that SLP funded projects are frequently monitored, and they must keep track of daily money transactions to ensure transparency. The SLP aims to strengthen the livelihood assets and competencies of the poor and marginalized sectors by providing seed capital to help them create and operate their chosen businesses.
Boomalu Ka Bagumbayan is the third organization this year to benefit from the SLP. The first two projects are based in Gobgob and Magsaysay.
