BAGUIO CITY- The SLULHS Cubs on resumption of the inter-school basketball tilt games at the YMCA here last Saturday, November 11, 2015, outrun the UCGSHS Jaguars in game six of the High School Developmental Team division 85-71.
Seemingly testing each other, both the Cubs and Jaguars engaged themselves in a see-saw match on the first canto of play to post a 17-16 run with the Cubs on the upper hand after the first canto of play. The Jaguars came back with an early lead 22-21 but was spoiled by the Cubs with a surprise double triple from the rainbow area courtesy of Angelo Cacho that gave the Cubs a momentary lead after the Jaguars tied the score at 27-27 courtesy of Garnette Gamboa.
The continuous running game of the cubs gave their big man Magnus Ines to convert and fish for fouls capitalizing on his height to control the boards coupled with field goals from Ivan Lugo that gave stoppage to the raging Jaguars on the second canto of play to post a 25-15 run by the Cubs ending the first half of play at 42-31.
With the coveted team composure, the third canto was started by the Cubs with a double triple from the rainbow line courtesy of Antonio Abriol that gave pressure to the Jaguars. Hanging on with team foul trouble the Jaguars managed a 17-18 blast in the third canto of play to trim down the Cubs lead to ten points 50-40.
Fourth quarter action gave the Jaguars a little room of relief when they tied the ball game on the last four minutes of action 71-71. The cubs running game however cannot be outrunned by the Jaguars to the end of the buzzer to succumb a fourteen point deficit 85-71.
