SLU-LHS, Josefa Carino Bag Overall Championships In YMCA Tilt

BAGUIO CITY – Dona Josefa Carino Elementary School and Saint Louis University Laboratory High School (SLU-LHS) ruled the overall championship of their respective divisions in the recently concluded YMCA Open Invitational Badminton Tournament held August 27-28, 2016 at the YMCA gymnasium, here.  Dona Josefa Carino bagged the Elementary Division while SLU-LHS pocketed the High School Division.

Dona Josefa Carino bolstered to the top position with a six gold and two silver medal haul to claim the overall championship this year. They were led by the tandem of Ivan and Kyle Gorospe who won the gold for level “A” boys doubles beating Klester Mendoza and Abbie Puddong of Dontogan Elementary School in the finals.

Normienne Daniel Guiral and Anekien Gabryel Domalleg hauled their second gold medal in level B girls doubles with netting the win in the finals against Dontogan Elementary School tandem of Lexine Budaden and Crisbel A. Abluyen.

Anothergold medal came in the Level A mixed Doubles event as the tandem of Ivan Gorospe and Anekien Gabryel Dumalleg won over Dona Aurora Elementary School and YMCA tandem Steve Paatan and Janine Claveria.

Meanwhile, Dontogan Elementary School tandem of khalil De Guzman and Virna Amor Banngon came back to claim the gold medal in level B mixed Doubles event over 1st runner ups Abraham Saddooy and Clarence Sadawad of Josefa Carino Elementary School. De Guzman and Benedict Anatado also claimed the gold medal in Level B boys doubles event against Lloyd Bonce and Bryan Juguilon of Manuel Quezon Elementary School who settled for runner-up honors.

 

Other Schools who participated in the tourney were; San Jose School of La Trinidad, Inc., and Balili Elementary School.

On the other hand, the SLU-LHS dominated the Junior and Senior High School Division by bagging six golds and six silver medals. Arthur Sanlao and Czarina Gorospe ruled the Senior High division mixed doubles event bagging the gold medal while teammates Claire Espelita and Frederick Mago settled for the silver medal.

Sanlao also teamed up with Nigel Gwayne La Madrid for another gold medal over Easter College tandem Kenneth Solang and John Lee Loyosen. Gorospe then teamed up with Claire Espelita for the Senior High level B girls doubles gold over Gail Bud-oy and Precious Bangli of University of Baguio Science High School (UBSHS).

 

On the other hand, the Baguio City High School (BCHS) tandem of Christian Paul Paderon and John Nicholas Paderon came smashing shuttles to win the  gold medal in Level A boys doubles event leaving Elijah Mendoza and Shun Moon of Small World Christian Academy Foundation 1st runner ups in the event.

The SWCSF duo of Dave Arden Hindang and Carlo Elaydo edged SLU-LHS tandem of Jey Del Rosario and Nichol Cayat to bring home the gold and silver medals respectively. Baguio City High School’s Althea Fuentespina and Julianne Lim also came strong to bag the gold medal for Level A girls doubles over Patrizia Ugay and Justine Cayat.

Also netting the gold medal for level B girls division were UBSHS duo Alliah De Guzman and Fane Yao over SLU-LHS’ pair of Justine Lucas and Christine Joy Oria. BCHS came up with a brilliant defense and offensive plays on the net in the mixed level A to bag the gold care of Christian Paul Paderon and Juliane Lim leaving Jhon Nicholas Paderon and partner Althea Fuentespina for the silver medal.

Level B mixed pairs Justine Cayat and Shun Moon of SWCSF also showed dominance in the event to bag the gold medal edging Christian Jade and Christian Jasper Claveria.

 

In the second day, The YMCA Badminton Club led the plunge of corporate and senior badminton enthusiasts into action by bagging the overall championship.Kyrss Paluca and Arvie Tolentino got the gold medal for Level A in the Men’s division against YMCA’s Jeff Sumentac and Jay Claveria. Other winners in corporate division are as follows; Level B Mens Doubles; Aldrin and Eugene Seno-gold medal (Team Ragsak), Erick Mabalot and Erick Basto-Silver (YMCA). Level C Mens Doubles; Jayson Ocay and Leandro Fernandez Jr.-gold medal(La Union), Joe Marc Gamboa and Alvin Laylo-Silver medal (PMA), Level D Mens Double; Benedict Salindong and Jed Suarez-gold medal(La Union), Keithley Luke Kimpay and Arvi Galangco-Silver medal(Team Chef), Level E Mens Doubles; Edgar Vicente and Edgar Gomez-gold medal(YMCA), Kennon Lucio and Arthur Lucio-Silver medal(YMCA).

Level B Womens Doubles; Charity Fuentespina and Glen Arsenio-gold medal(Team Ragsak), Mary Anne Velo and zwitstar Buslig-silver medal(YMCA), Level D Womens Doubles; Kareen Samarita and Mariel Robles-gold medal (PMA), Rowena Bautista and Eleanor Dabucol-silver medal(YMCA). Level E Womens Doubles; Cheryl Joven and Sheryl Sagnep- gold medal(YMCA), Relea Que and Josephine Malaya- silver medal(Berkeley Momz), Level B Mixed Doubles; Mark Que and Glen Arsenio- gold medal (YMCA), Mary Ann Velo and Erick Jay Basto –silver medal(YMCA), Level D Mixed Doubles; Kareen Erero and Benedict Salindong- gold medal (La Union), John Manansala and Josephine Bulado – silver medal (YMCA), Level E Mixed Doubles; Kenan Cea and Cheryl Joven – gold medal (YMCA), Ace Tugas and Relea Que – silver medal (YMCA).
