MACTAN, Cebu – Saint Louis University (SLU) and University of Baguio (UB) accountancy student delegates were among the winners of the National Federation of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) National Mid-Year Convention (NMYC) held last October 27-30, 2016 at the Crown Regency, here.
SLU’s Jan Erik Etrata and Daniel Mallare and UB’s Claudine Nicole Valenzuela were declared victors in the National Cyber Accounting Genius while the team of Dayanara Villanueva, Kevin Adrian Fabros and Franklin Jan Wayang from UB paired with a team from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) to bag the Management Accounting Services Case Study Competition championship.
Meanwhile, SLU’s Leonardo Amorsolo, Region 1 and CAR’s entry to the Mr. Ambassador of Goodwill 2016, finished 3rd runner-up in the said event. In addition, Amorsolo and Graciela Mitz Quibuyen bagged the People’s Choice Award in the same event.
Claudine Nicole Valenzuela of UB bagged 3rd place in the Lip Sync Battle where she performed “Problem” by Ariana Grande. Sherry Mae Saxton, also from UB, bagged 3rd place in the Short Story Writing Category. Lastly, Jonathan Mari Mercado of SLU was part of the Region 1 and CAR team that won 3rd place in the JPIA parody.
SLU’s Bea Maynigo, the reigning Ambassadress of Goodwill, made her farewell walk in the event to mark the end of her reign.
On the other hand, Region 1 delegates were not left behind in bagging awards during the convention. Jesse Paulo Serna of Northwestern University, Emman Nepacena and Von Zedrick Cruz of Kingfisher School of Business and Finance (KSBF), and Nicolai Aquino of University of Luzon were also declared victors of the National Cyber Accounting Genius
Adrian Mark Quinto, from KSBF, finished 5th in the Auditing Cup while Erica Navarro, also of the same school, bagged 2nd place in Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions.
The NMYC is an annual event of the national federation of junior accountants where competitions for different academic and non-academic events are being contested by the different regional representatives made up of accountancy students from schools offering accountancy all over the country.
