With the rising number of people with confirmed cases of the Coronavirus Infectious Disease 2019 or COVID-19, SM City Baguio has taken precautionary measures to prevent widespread of the disease.
Last February, the mall has deployed alcohol dispensers in all the entrances, restrooms and required the mall tenants to install alcohol dispensers at their store reception area as well. Temperature checks are being implemented in the main entrances of the mall. The sanitation team makes sure to check the temperature of each mall goer using a thermoscanner. People who were seen to have a high temperature are advised to go to the nearest hospital for check-up.
For the mall frontliners such as the janitorial personnel, carpark cashiers, and security guards, they are required to wear face masks and latex gloves for health safety. Elevators are protected by on air and surface disinfectant mist. The sanitation team is tasked to disinfect areas where people are known to frequent such as the handrails on the balcony fences and escalators, comfort rooms, elevators, and others. The sanitation team continuously disinfects common areas with heavy customer contact every 30 minutes.
For SM City Baguio admin employees , they were oriented by the mall clinic health professionals on the facts of COVID-19 and the procedures to help prevent the spread. They were also provided with face masks and alcohol bottles.
As another precaution, SM City Baguio has postponed and cancelled sales and events that could invite crowds.
