LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The SM Foundation renovated the Camp Bado Dangwa Hospital (CBDH) at La Trinidad, Benguet, and conducted its blessing ceremony on Friday, December 6.
This is SM Foundation’s 212th renovated health facility and 5th renovated police facility. The renovation upgraded the facility’s existing equipment. New additions to the hospital included the installation of a new pathological laboratory, a SAR (search and rescue) box, and SM DigiKonsulta.
Police Col. Alma Paredes, the Chief of the Regional Medical and Dental Unit Cordillera Administrative Region (RMDU-CAR), which oversees CBDH, shared the struggle they experienced with the lack of facilities in the unit.
“Meron kaming existing na equipment ganun pero hindi siya talaga sapat para maibigay mo talaga yung service na kailangan ng tao. Kulang talaga.” Paredes said.
Connie Angeles, SM Foundation’s Executive Director for Health and Medical Programs, said in her message: “For us at SM Foundation, each center that we renovate represents a lifeline for those in need, offering not just medical care but also a renewed sense of hope and dignity.”
Simultaneous with the blessing ceremony was a medical mission also held by the SM Foundation. The mission, called a health fair, offered a mobile clinic, a pharmacy, and dental and medical consultations, free of charge for the community of Camp Bado Dangwa.
Established by Henry Sy Sr. in 1983, the SM Foundation has since then focused on social investments in education, health care, livelihood, and shelter to support the Filipino community. By Heleina Taeza
