TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government, under the leadership of Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero, has expanded its street lighting project to barangay Bulanao Centro.
Forty solar lights were installed along a section of the irrigation canal in Purok 6 to illuminate the otherwise very dark stretch of road at night.
In the early hours of this evening, the solar lights along the stretch of the irrigation canal were turned on by the officials of the barangay headed by Punong Barangay Cosme Gunnawa.
According to May G. Bollecer, the residents of Purok 6 and those who travel along the length of road have long requested for the area to be lighted.
She added that the mayor finally granted their request, and the lit road has significantly improved the safety of residents as well as that of the drivers who frequently use the route at night.
In addition to thanking Estrañero, the residents of Purok 6 and the barangay officials also expressed their desire that the irrigation canal’s complete length leading to the provincial tourism hostel would soon be illuminated.
Street lighting is one of the Estrañero administration’s top priorities as seen by the installation of street lights along the Mapaoay National Road, Nambaran National Road, Naneng Heritage Village, and part of the national road in barangay Dupag.
