BAGUIO CITY – The Solid North Party-list will be working on the establishment of action centers in strategic areas in the different parts of the country to provide assistance to members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors in coping with the current challenges in life they are currently experiencing.
La Paz, Abra Mayor Joseph Sto. Nino Bernos, who is one of the stalwarts of the Solid North Party-list, said that the group is fully aware of the needs of the people on the ground and the availability of the services of concerned government agencies that need to be cascaded to those who are in need, thus, the establishment of the action centers to allow the people to be able to access these services.
“Our action centers will be the ones to bring closer to the people the necessary services of concerned government agencies that need to be accessed so that the basic needs of the members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors can be immediately addressed right there and then. The action centers will serve as the link of the people on the ground to the concerned government agencies having programs assisting them for their medical and other basic needs,” Bernos stressed.
Bernos, who is the national president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, was the former two-term Representative of Abra to the House of Representatives from 2016 to 2022.
He assured that the action centers of the Solid North Party-list will make life easier for those seeking assistance from concerned government agencies as there will be designated personnel who will provide the people with the needed assistance for the processing of the documentary requirements for them to avail of the existing services of the said agencies.
His wife, incumbent Abra Rep. Ching Bernos, is the first nominee of the Solid North Party-list, the second nominee comes from the famous Ortega clan of La Union while the third nominee is from Apayao.
According to him, Cordillerans have a significant stake in the Solid North Party-list group where two of the nominees, including his wife, are from the region that is why it is important for the people to support the group to be guaranteed with the necessary seats in the House and give the Cordillera the additional representation.
Bernos claimed he witnessed the difficulty of people from remote communities in accessing the necessary assistance from concerned government agencies that gave him the idea of the need to establish action centers to ensure that people are able to get the appropriate aid from the government.
Bernos explained that the Solid North Party-list enjoys the blessings of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. since the said group is considered a Marcos brand and he first sought the clearance from the President before working out the creation of the group that was initially a regional party but eventually expanded to a party-list organization.
Among the possible assistance that could be availed by the people from the proposed action centers are medical assistance, burial assistance and other social welfare programs of the government agencies geared towards extending aid to the members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors.
