KABUGAO, Apayao – Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony of Apayao Solidarity Park in the Old Capitol Compound at Iyapan Heights, Kabugao on December 5, 2023.
The solidarity park is a symbol of the solidarity movement initiated by the late Elias K. Bulut, Sr. (EKB) in fighting against insurgencies and in combining effort with other leaders to push development in the Kalinga- Apayao.
With this effort, EKB won the congressional race in 1992 and authored the separation of Kalinga and Apayao through Republic Act (RA) 7878.
The park located at the mountain top shall be a place where families and visitors can go when they need to relax or exercise. The park will feature the monument of the province’s founder and provincial hero EKB, a playground, fountain, and shaded areas.
During the testimony of exemplary service at the Hero’s Day and the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Apayao Solidarity Park, Ramos Bongui, one of EKB’s close friends, reminded the people of the works and sacrifices of EKB to give birth to Apayao saying “Many of our forebears shared this aspiration and longed for its realization… this is the only province for us yApayaos, so let us continue to love and preserve it.”
The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by the Acting Vice Governor Kyle Mariah Chelsea Bulut-Cunan, Municipal Mayors, heads of national line agencies, first and second districts Sangguniang Bayan Members, Sangguniang Kabataan, provincial department heads, employees, barangay officials, and constituents of Kabugao.
