BAGUIO CITY – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) announced that the solo parents purchase booklets are now available for claiming in the said office.
Assistant City Social Welfare and Development Officer Cynthia Langagan said that the solo parents purchase booklet is needed by the registered solo parents for them to avail of the prescribed 10 percent discount and exemption from the value added tax on the purchase of baby’s milk, food and micronutrient supplements, sanitary diapers, duly prescribed medicines, vaccines, and other medical supplements purchased from the birth of the child until 6 years of age of a solo parent who is earning less than P250,000 annually.
The CSWDO official pointed out that the availment of the solo parents purchase booklet is still subject to the evaluation and assessment of the concerned social workers.
She encouraged everyone to share this very important information to the public to ensure that those in need can access help from the said office.
“Let us work together to provide safety, care, and hope for those facing difficult circumstances. Together, let us participate and make the most of this opportunity to connect and get involved with us. We look forward to serving you and the clients you refer to us,” Langagan stressed.
Republic Act (RA) 11861 or the Expanded Solo parents Act and Department of Health Memorandum Circular 35, series of 2024 mandated the issuance of the requisite solo parents purchase booklet to allow the holder to avail of the prescribed 10 percent discount in the purchases that the bearer will make from the concerned establishments where the solo parents are residing.
Earlier, the CSWDO had urged solo parents in the city to register with the said office as part of the initiative to come up with a database on the number of solo parents and craft the needed programs, projects, activities and interventions that could be implemented by the local government to advance their welfare.
The CSWDO is mandated to formulate, develop, and implement plans, programs and projects on social welfare and development aimed at providing assistance to vulnerable members of the society. By Dexter A. See
