LUNA, Apayao – Apayao Lone District Representative Congressman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang has allocated 13 million pesos for this year’s Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Apayao.
Cong. Bulut-Begtang’s office has consistently provided funding for the GIP since 2014. This program aims to offer preparatory employment opportunities to job seekers, allowing them to develop their skills and competencies before entering the workforce.
According to DOLE-Apayao, a total of 220 interns have been deployed to various municipalities within the province. These interns will work for a period of six months, starting in June and concluding in December 2023. The contracts may be renewed based on individual performance and the availability of funds.
DOLE -Apayao Employment Officer Marcelo Saleo-an Jr., emphasized that the GIP aims to contribute to the province’s employment rate by reducing unemployment. He highlighted that GIP applicants should be at least high school graduates between the ages of 18 and 30 with no prior work experience. Saleo-an Jr. encouraged the youth sector to take advantage of this opportunity, as the program serves as a stepping stone towards a brighter future.
DOLE-Apayao has already received positive feedback from previous GIP recipients, who credit the program for preparing them for their current jobs.
