BONTOC, Mountain Province – Police Colonel (PCol.) Ferdinand N. Oydoc assumed his position as the new Provincial Director (PD) of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office (MPPPO) on November 5, 2024.
Oydoc traces his roots to Barangay Talubin, this town. His assumption as the new MPPPO PD is pursuant to General Order No. 2024-1826 issued on November 4, 2024. This is his second time serving as the PD of the MPPPO. His first was eight years ago in 2016.
A ceremonial turnover of command was held at the Camp Lt. Geronimo F. Montes on November 5, 2024, to officially welcome PCol. Oydoc and, at the same time, to express appreciation to the outgoing PD, PCol. Sibly P. Dawiguey, Jr. for his two years of laudable service in the province.
The ceremony was graced by the Police Regional Office–Cordillera (PRO-COR) Regional Director Police Brigadier General (PBGen.) David K. Peredo, Jr. who acted as the presiding officer of the turnover ceremony and Vice Governor Francis O. Tauli, representing Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. Other guests were Board Member Ezra Samson A. Gomez; mayors of various towns Bryne O. Bacwaden (Besao), Clark C. Ngaya (Barlig), and Randolf T. Awisan (Bauko), Vice Mayors Eusebio Kabluyen (Bontoc), and Elizabeth A. Buyagan (Besao); Trisha Dogup from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)–MP, representing DILG-MP Provincial Director Evelyn B. Trinidad; and Reverend Father Antonio “Bar” F. Fangkingan, Jr., among others.
As the new PD of the MPPPO, PCol. Oydoc relayed his enthusiasm in serving MP and conveyed his high hopes that the MP police force will perform their duties well and prove that they belong to the home of the most disciplined cops.
PCol. Oydoc also pointed out in his message the significance of having the full support and cooperation of the different local government units and members of the community in a successful police operation.
“Without you, kakaunti lang talaga and nagagawa ng kapulisan. So I ask you to continue supporting the MPPPO,” he added.
As a guiding principle to Oydoc’s critical role as head of the MPPPO, PBGen. Paredes laid out three characteristics/features that a leader should possess. According to him, a leader should be able to inspire, should be open to hear comments and suggestions for further improvement of service, and should be able to show appreciation to the efforts and excellent performances of his/her colleagues.
Meanwhile, Vice Governor Tauli expressed his confidence towards Oydoc’s leadership as he is already accustomed to the culture of MP being an iMontañosa himself.
“We are affirmative that MP will remain safe and peaceful under your leadership as the same with the outgoing director, PCol. Sibley Dawiguey, Jr. You are already familiar to the culture of the people here being the son of this capital town,” he said.
Before relinquishing his position as PD, PCol. Dawiguey took a moment to express his earnest gratitude for the opportunity granted to him to serve in his home province. He described his work experience as extraordinary.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude once again. Serving as PD has been a privilege and an honor that I will always cherish. Thank you all for this extraordinary experience, and my God bless each of us as we continue to serve our beloved country and work towards a safer MP to live, work, study, and do business,” he said.
In recognition of his two-year service of leading the police force in the province, Vice Governor Tauli, on behalf of the provincial government, personally awarded a certificate of recognition to Dawiguey.
Another highlight of the turnover ceremony was the blessing of the newly-acquired patrol vehicle of the MPPPO which was officiated by Rev. Fr. Fangkingan. By Hail, MP
