BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Mountain Province passed Provincial Ordinance No. 565, s. 2025 or “The Mountain Province Tax Amnesty Ordinance,” an ordinance prescribing guidelines for the tax amnesty relative to the payment of real property taxes and special levies on real properties in Mountain Province.
The ordinance was recently approved by Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. During the body’s previous meeting, Provincial Treasurer Rafael L. Lingbanan, Jr. requested a measure granting tax amnesty on real property taxes and special levies per Republic Act No. 12001.
It is stated in the ordinance that it is the policy of the provincial government to provide affordable relief for delinquent real property owners to settle their long-standing RPT delinquencies and to generate additional revenue for essential public service and development programs.
The ordinance will include penalties, surcharges, and interest on all unpaid real property taxes, including the Special Education Fund, Idle Land Tax, and other special levies, incurred before the effectiveness of the Republic Act No. 12001 on July 5, 2024.
Section 4 of the ordinance states that taxpayers may avail themselves of the amnesty by following a simplified procedure at their respective Municipal Treasury Office.
As to the amnesty period, the two-year Tax Amnesty Program will be in effect until July 5, 2026.
According to the Provincial Treasury Office (PTO), the Provincial Government, through the PTO, shall conduct a comprehensive information campaign to ensure that taxpayers are fully informed about the amnesty program. By MP-PIO
